Scandic Karlskrona updates Opus 100/170
In the spring of 2010 Scandic Karlskrona was inaugurated with 180 rooms and the best lighting technology of the time. For the bathrooms, Ifö Electric supplied 900 Opus 100/175 with black-glazed porcelain bases and matt opal glass shades. The lighting technology consisted of HF devices for 13W G24q-1 CFL. We are now writing 2024 and it is time to update the lighting technology. The porcelain bases and the shades are completely unaffected by wear and tear of time, but the HF devices and CFLs are no longer up to date. With the help of replacement kits from Ifö Electric, SMARTservice helps Scandic Karlskrona upgrade all luminaires to today’s LED technology. This is a great way to show sustainably; reuse fixtures instead of replacing them.
When the Opus luminaire series was designed in the mid-2000s, the phasing out of CFLs was not considered, but since Ifö Electric has been working with modularized luminaire design for a long time, it was now – twenty years later – easy to produce a replacement kit. That’s what we call real sustainability.
Modularity & Functionality
Porcelain fixtures are renowned for their exceptional durability, making them ideal for reuse. Since the 1960s, Ifö Electric luminaires have been designed with modularity in mind, allowing all technical components to be disassembled, cleaned, repaired, or upgraded. This adaptability ensures that the fixtures can keep up with the evolving lighting technology and remain relevant over time.
