Ifö Electric introduces larger lighting shapes and new lighting technology across three beloved porcelain collections – while celebrating a twenty-year anniversary!

Ifö Electric has been producing porcelain in their production facilities since 1934. Many of their models have become timeless classics and remain in production today. The philosophy of developing need-based luminaires designed to be updated and endure over time, continues to define Ifö Electric’s approach to lighting design.

The ambition has never been to create trend-driven products, even though the luminaires have consistently proven to outlast both stylistic shifts and generations.
New lighting fixtures are developed and introduced with care, in a true “slow design” spirit, ensuring they respond to both present and future needs.

A newly developed LED module

Developing a new LED module with higher light output and improved light quality is a demanding and extensive process. The challenge lies in engineering the components as efficiently as possible in order to achieve more light per watt, while simultaneously reducing heat generation to maximize the lifespan of the LED module.

After two years of development in collaboration with a European supplier, the lighting module is now complete and ready to be integrated in our durable porcelain luminaires. Ifö Electric can now proudly present an exclusively developed LED module delivering 2500lm, with an impressive lifespan of 100,000 hours. The new modules are available with different control systems: a simple on/off driver with optional Casambi add-on dimming, or a DALI/switchDim driver. The new LED modules also feature a high colour rendering index (Ra >90), providing a natural light close to daylight quality.

In 2026, the award-winning Ifö Electric collections Ohm, Solenne and Opus expand with new additions. All are introduced in larger formats and shades, with newly developed high-performance lighting technology. Luminaires designed to provide comfortable illumination in larger architectural contexts such as public environments, stairwells, entrances and facades – while remaining equally suited for private homes and interiors.

Opus celebrates 20 years

Twenty years after its introduction, the Opus lighting collection designed by Duoform, continues to evolve while remaining true to the same fundamental design idea established in 2006. The anniversary is marked through refinement rather than change. The design remains the same – restrained, functional and consistent – but now presented in new proportions. The increased volume gives the luminaire a stronger architectural presence, while the two different matt opal glass shades create either a low or high silhouette, with subtle variations in light distribution and expression.

With its distinct cylindrical shape and Scandinavian minimalist expression, Opus rests within a quiet design tradition. The design is neither nostalgic nor concerned with contemporary trends. Instead, Opus exists within its own context of materiality and timelessness.

“Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Opus with a larger model and new lighting technology may be a quiet way of honoring a classic. But in true minimalist Opus spirit, we continue moving forward with more light, improved technology, and a slightly larger presence.” – Anders Öringe, CEO, Ifö Electric.

The new Opus 220 with lower glass shade is equipped with a 2500lm LED module specially developed for Ifö Electric. The taller shade offers a choice between classic E27 retrofit light sources or the new LED module.

The Ohm silhouette in a larger scale

The first luminaires in the Ohm lighting collection were introduced in 2019, designed by Kauppi & Kauppi. The collection’s soft silhouettes with its signature interaction between porcelain and glass are inspired by historic insulators, rooted in Ifö Electric’s long heritage. Over the years, Ohm has evolved into an award-winning and widely appreciated lighting collection. Finding its place in various settings from private interiors to larger architectural projects, in Sweden and internationally.

New variations and innovations have gradually extended the collection’s range of applications. From table lamps and splash safe pendants to ceiling and wall luminaires, as well as models mounted on arms for facades and bathrooms. The collection has newly been introduced in a brown glaze, alongside the classic white and black glazes.

Ohm is now presented in a significantly larger scale than before, without losing its characteristic warm and welcoming expression. The increased volume allows the new luminaires to incorporate more powerful lighting technology, enabling the Ohm collection to be installed in environments with greater lighting demands than previously possible. A lighting family equally suited for contemporary architecture as well as historic buildings.

“It is inspiring and a great privilege to work closely with a company as dedicated as Ifö Electric. Over the years, we have designed, developed and refined Ohm into a cohesive and versatile lighting collection. Taking the design to a much larger scale feels like a natural progression, allowing the new Ohm 220 to carry more light where it is needed, without losing its elegance. The light grows stronger, while the expression remains unchanged.” – Kauppi & Kauppi.

The new Ohm measures 220 mm in diameter, launched with two optional matt opal glass shades in different heights and characteristics. The lower version has a more concentrated and restrained appearance and is equipped with Ifö Electric’s new 2500lm LED module. The taller shade has a fuller expression and can be fitted with either classic E27 retrofit light sources or the new LED module.

Solenne evolves

Solenne is Ifö Electric’s most voluminous lighting collection, defined by its generous overhanging glass shades, casting a gentle gradient glow on its surroundings. Introduced in 2023 in collaboration with designer duo Kauppi & Kauppi. The collection includes several sizes and models for a variety of applications. Classic luminaires for ceilings, walls and facades with IP44 classification for both indoor and outdoor environments, as well as a grand pendant, a table lamp and Ifö Electric’s first floor lamp, both with wooden bases.

In 2026 the Solenne collection is complemented by a new lower glass shade, while a new more powerful LED module is simultaneously introduced. The new lower glass shade with a diameter of 360 mm, creates two new additional variants within the collection – a pendant version, and a flush mount luminaire for ceilings, walls and facades. The light remains soft, diffused and without harsh transitions. The Solenne collection is designed with larger rooms and public environments in mind, as well as interiors where comfortable light is essential.

“Solenne continues to evolve without losing its original identity. The new lower glass gives the luminaire a calmer and more floating expression despite its generous diameter to meet different needs, spaces and architectural contexts. “- Kauppi & Kauppi

The newly developed high output 2500lm LED module is introduced in four new Solenne luminaires, featuring 360 mm diameter shades. Pendants with either high or low shade, and flush mounted luminaires with either high or low shade. All models can also be fitted with classic E27 retrofit light sources.
